One thing that puts a lot of small business owners off getting a website is not knowing what they're getting into. Will it take months? Will there be endless back-and-forth? Will they need to provide a load of technical information they don't have?
The honest answer is: working with NC Digital is simpler than most people expect. Here's exactly what the process looks like.
Step One: A Conversation
Every project starts with a conversation — either by phone, email, or a short call. We want to understand your business, what you need from your website, and what success looks like for you.
We'll also be honest at this stage about what we think you need. If a managed starter website is the right fit, we'll say so. If you need a fully custom build, we'll say that too. If your main problem is SEO rather than the website itself, we'll tell you. We're not trying to upsell — we're trying to give you the right advice for your situation.
This conversation is free, takes twenty minutes or less, and leaves you with a clear picture of what we'd recommend and why.
Step Two: We Give You a Clear Recommendation
After the initial conversation, we'll come back to you with a clear recommendation: what we'd build, what it would include, and what the ongoing arrangement would look like.
No jargon, no vague promises. Just a plain explanation of what you'd get and what it would cost.
If you're unsure about anything, this is the time to ask. We'd rather you go away and think about it than commit to something you don't fully understand.
Step Three: We Gather What We Need from You
Once you're ready to go ahead, we'll ask for the information we need to build your site. This is typically:
- Your business name, contact details, and location
- Your services — a simple list is fine
- Your service area
- A bit of background on your business
- Photos of your work (phone photos are absolutely fine)
That's it. We write all the copy, handle all the technical setup, register your domain if needed, and configure your hosting. You don't need to touch a single line of code or log in to anything.

Step Four: We Build It
Depending on the type of site, the build takes between a few days and a few weeks. A managed starter website is typically live within five to seven working days. A fully custom build takes longer — usually two to four weeks depending on complexity.
During this stage, we handle everything. You won't be chased for approvals at every step — we build based on what you've told us and share the result when it's ready to review.
Step Five: You Review It
When the site is ready, we share a preview link for you to look through. We ask for feedback within a reasonable timeframe — typically a week — and make any adjustments based on your notes.
Most reviews result in minor tweaks rather than significant changes. We aim to get it right the first time based on what you've told us.
Step Six: You Go Live
Once you're happy, your site goes live. We point your domain, verify everything is working, and submit your sitemap to Google so you're indexed as quickly as possible.
From that point, if you're on a maintenance or managed package, everything ongoing is handled by us — updates, security, backups, and monthly content additions if applicable.
After Launch
Going live isn't the end — it's the beginning. We stay in touch, handle any changes you need, and monitor your site's performance. If we notice something that could be improved or an opportunity worth pursuing, we'll flag it.
If you're ever unhappy with anything, we want to know. We'd rather fix a problem than have a client quietly dissatisfied.
If that sounds like the kind of process you'd like, get in touch and let's start with a conversation. You can also see examples of what we've built in our portfolio, or read about the NC Digital approach to web design.
